Actually, you needn't wait until Father's Day to surprise dad with one - or even all - of these unbelievably unique gifts. In fact, why not treat yourself as well?
We’ve all been there, the last minute dash to the golf shop for the old man’s Father’s Day gift. It’s one of those days of note that just creeps up on you, and while your dad’s insistence he doesn’t need anything is nice and all that, wouldn’t it be great to be prepared and have a killer gift just this once? Well, you’ve got a few weeks to sort it out and luckily for you, we’ve come up with five awesome ideas.
As you may know, at Montagio we’re quite partial to a nice whisky, and we’d gladly drink one of the top five whiskies on the planet from a shoe if need be. But we also know that respecting your elders is a must, and there’s no greater sign of respect for your old man than buying him what has been described as the best whisky glass ever created.
Combining their considerable design chops and more than a hint of engineering savviness, the founders of Norlan have created a glass that is something akin to the love child of the most elegant snifter and a robust tumbler. Sounds good, right? The best thing is, they come in pairs so you’ll have to join your dad for a test drive.
The humble axe, feller of trees, splitter of logs, and the zombie apocalypse weapon of choice. But will your dad be ready when the day of the living dead dawns? Probably not, which is why you need to get him down to Maniax for a crash course in axe throwing.
Two hours of axe lobbing madness awaits you and your father down in St. Peters as you take aim at solid wood targets cut from the trunk of a tree. Trust us; this is an experience neither of you will forget. There’s nothing like a bit of father/son bonding that involves throwing sharp metal objects.
If your dad is more of a beer drinking man and not too worried about the impending zombie apocalypse, then perhaps a tour of some of Sydney’s many craft brewers will be more up his street. Dave’s Brewery tours are varied so you can choose a full day trip around some of the city’s finest watering holes or a shorter walking tour.
It’s a great way to learn a little about the microbrewing industry while sampling beers that he may never get the chance to try. And like the day of axe throwing, perhaps this might be a good chance for you to spend some quality time with the old man. It’ll be tough going tasting all those beers, but you’ll manage it somehow.
Aside from the rather dubious name, this credit card sized titanium tool is incredible. It boasts a bottle opener, a hair and beard comb, a ruler on one side, a 2-Grade file on the back, three screwdrivers on the corners, and two hex wrenches.
The BroCardslips into a leather wallet that also has some room at the back for regular cards and rubber bands for holding your money; did we mention it’s damn stylish? If your dad is the handyman type that likes to have a tool on his person at all times, then this is the gift for him.
Sure, your dad’s probably got a stack of suits he’s accumulated over the years. The work suit, the wedding suit, the going to your Aunt’s garden party suit, but has he got a custom made suit? Has he ever experienced the joy and thrill of the tailoring process? Unless he’s a very stylish chap, the chances are he’s an off the rack man. And if so, then it’s about time we changed that.
Get him booked in with us here at Montagio and we’ll guide him through the whole process. From choosing fabrics to recommending a style to suit his body shape, he’ll get the five-star treatment you know he deserves on the only day of the year reserved exclusively for the old man of the house.
That’s it, five top ideas for an unusual or memorable Father’s Day gift for the man himself, all you have to do is choose one. And don’t dawdle, it’s a few weeks away, but you know how time flies when you haven’t bought a gift yet.
