Well-chosen accessories, like a boutonniere, transform a decently dressed man into an extraordinarily dressed gentleman. In a suble way, it also hints at what he considered the perfect accessory for a wedding suit, tuxedo, dinner jacket, or even a business suit.
The simplest, cheapest, least used, and (in our opinion), the perfect accessory for formal wear is a flower. Boutonnieres celebrate life, they have richly storied histories, and best of all, can be found for free on a bright day in spring.
A boutonniere is always worn on the left breast – near the heart. To make the best impression, keep it simple.
As the old quote says: “That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest.” The boutonniere flower bears testament to this.
As a final note on accessories, remember they add to and enrich the experience when you wear them. In that sense, they resemble the service and the ambience surrounding a fine meal. For example, a man should not surround himself with the finest accessories if his suits and clothing are shabby or improper.
A man who doesn't care about his appearance cannot expect to project a favourable impression merely on the basis of his accessories - appearance is built on the total package, which starts with a good foundation.
