Oxfords are lace-up shoes designed to be worn below the ankle. Commonly divided into balmorals and bluchers, the difference between them lies in their lacing systems.
Balmorals are referred to as “Oxfords” while bluchers are referred to as “Derbys”.
Balmoral Oxfords use a closed lacing system and are usually styled more simply than bluchers. Therefore, they are classified as being the dressier of the two and are best worn with tailor made men's suits and formal wear.
