EducateEmpowerChange Australia held its inaugural Baobab Charity Dinner on Saturday 8 October 2011 at NSW Parliament House with the Hon. Alexander Downer (former Foreign Minister) giving the keynote address. We thought we'd do our little bit to help the cause by offering a tailored suiting experience for auction on the evening. Here's a little bit more about the gala event and the great work EducateEmpowerChange does in Tanzania and Sothern Sudan.
EducateEmpowerChange Australia works tirelessly with local authorities and communities to provide the much needed infrastructure, expertise, and resources necessary to improve education in the poorest regions of Tanzania and Southern Sudan. They strive to break the cycle of poverty through the provision of a holistic and quality education. In short, they offer the all-important hand-up, not just a hand out.
The black-tie gala dinner, featured a keynote from the Hon. Alexander Downer who is now the United Nations special envoy to Cyprus. He highlighted the importance of education in breaking the cycle of poverty in developing countries and was able to articulate exactly why the work EducateEmpowerChange does is so important.

The event in full swing
The evening also included a mixture of fine dining, live African and Australian entertainment and an exciting array of live and silent auction items including a 10.8 carat AAA grade Tanzanite stone and luxury 12 Day Tanzanian Safari – and of course a Montagio tailored suiting experience valued at $2,000!
The money raised from the event went straight toward the continued expansion of EducateEmpowerChange's schools and Teacher Resource Centres in Tanzania and the implementation of their first building development in South Sudan.
Overall the night saw over $60,000 raised – which will contribute significantly to their projects next year.
To the far right, Jatin (one of Montagio's Directors) gets on stage and busts a move with the live entertainment (notice his impeccable custom tailored satin bordered Tuxedo Jacket – nice!)
We'd like to personally thank Lara Warren, Executive Director of EducateEmpowerChangeAustralia who first sought out our participation in sponsoring the event and who made the whole evening quite memorable and meaningful. Her determined work in Tanzania should not go without special mention – she really is a champion for the cause.
Thanks Lara (far left)– Top job, and keep up the good work!
