It’s a fabric that many men shy away from as a daily suit option given its propensity to magnify even the tiniest of creases tenfold. Add to that the possibility of staining on the light coloured options and you might wonder why we love this suit at all. But the truth is that the positives of a custom tailored linen suit far outweigh the negatives. It’s light, breathable, and durable making it perfect for the warmer weather. So how should you wear it?
Avoid clashing with the groom’s suit by choosing a colour other than sand or cream. A navy blue suit with a solid coloured dress shirt is an elegant choice perfect for the occasion. Add a bit of flair by choosing a patterned tie and a pocket square. The look is completed with a tan pair of brogues but leave the socks at home. This is a casual weddingafter all.
Dispel the myth that dress-down Friday is for jeans and t-shirts only by showing up at the office in your linen suit. Keep the suit together but ditch the shirt and tie and choose a plain coloured t-shirt, a polo shirt or even a casual short sleeved shirt. Finish off with a pair of loafers for a totally relaxed look.
With a suit, you get three looks, the jacket, the pants and the whole suit together. Your linen suit pants are the perfect light attire required for a day on the yacht, a picnic, or even a quick 18 holes down the club. Super light and extremely durable, tailored linen pants give your weekend casual outfit a more refined look, particularly if they are slim fitting. Pair with a polo shirt for casual events or an open collar white dress shirt if the day calls for a little formality.
A blazer is a must have item for any style conscious man, and your linen suit jacket is the perfect substitute for the all too common navy blazer. It goes with any smart casual outfit you can come up with, but we think the linen suit jacket works best with a pair of jeans or chinos and a simple tailored shirt with or without a tie. It’s light and airy so you can keep it on long after other guys have ditched their heavier wool blazers.
The linen suit is a truly essential component to any warm weather wardrobe. Its versatility as both a suit and as separates gives it a distinct advantage over its heavier counterparts especially in our lovely Australian climate. Which is probably why we’ve put a lot of effort into our linen collection. So if a linen suit is on the cards, you should let Montagio take care of business.
