This is the type of stitching you'll find on most off-the-rack suits as well as inexpensive made to measure suits. Machine stitching is faster as it does not require the finely-tuned skills of a master tailor to create an internal structure to complement the unique form of your body. So while it's a much cheaper option, it's less accurate and less likely to produce a good shape for you.
This type of stitching is found only in good quality men's suits. A web of stitches is used to build curvature into the chest in places where a machine stitched suit would just hang flat.
This greatly improves the shape, fit and silhouette of the suit. Handcraft top stitching on the lapel, jacket edges and pockets can often be found, creating an elegant touch.
